About this tool
Split one photo into a 3, 6 or 9-post Instagram grid or a seamless swipe carousel. Tiles are cut to 1:1, 4:5 or 3:4 and numbered in posting order. Instagram Grid Maker & Image Splitter is part of WebToolNest's collection of free image tools. All processing happens locally in your browser, so your files stay private and nothing is uploaded.
How Instagram grid posts work
Your Instagram profile shows posts three across, newest first. If you cut one big picture into tiles and post them in the right order, your profile shows the whole picture โ a โgrid postโ or โpuzzle feedโ. The catch is the order: the newest post appears at the top-left, so the bottom-right tile must be posted first and the top-left tile last. This tool numbers every tile in that posting order for you.
Grid, carousel or custom?
- Profile grid โ 1 to 5 rows of 3 posts (3, 6, 9, 12 or 15 tiles) that join up on your profile.
- Carousel (swipe) โ 2 to 10 slides in a single post. Perfect for panoramas: as people swipe, the photo continues seamlessly.
- Custom grid โ any number of rows and columns, for printing, puzzles or other platforms.
Which tile shape?
- 1:1 square (1080ร1080) โ the classic Instagram shape.
- 4:5 portrait (1080ร1350) โ the tallest feed post Instagram allows; takes up more screen in the feed.
- 3:4 (1080ร1440) โ matches the taller thumbnails Instagram's profile grid now shows, so tiles line up without being cut off on your profile.
Use the two sliders to move the picture inside the frame before cutting. Tiles are saved as high-quality JPGs at Instagram's recommended 1080-pixel width and downloaded together in a ZIP.
